EAT THE FROG BEFORE FROG EATS YOU.
In this world, we have countless distractions around us to keep us away from the very task we want to perform or we have to. But this notification ring on the phone tells us every minute that your friend has commented on your Fb profile photo or your old friend has texted you or there is a 12% flat sale on your favorite shoes and you pick up the phone even if you do not need the shoes you start trolling and are amazed by the variety of shoes they have.
These distractions do not allow you to focus on your very important task and you start delaying your most important task. This behavior of delaying tasks is known as procrastination.
Neuro-Scientists have devised different ways that help humans to focus on a task and the Pomodoro technique is one of the most basic of them.
Pomodoro wants you to work on a very important task of yours for 25 minutes, take a break of 5 minutes and repeat it until you have done with four repetitions, now take a long break of half an hour. Repeat the procedure until you are done with your work.
My Experience :
I, like so many of you, am a victim of Procrastination. So, I decided to try this Pomodoro technique while doing my Online Course: Creating a Super-Hero Resume.
I started the course early in the morning at 7 am. Starting the task is always a difficult thing to do but I pushed myself to sit in front of the laptop and started the timer. When I started things became very smooth as always. I forgot to put my phone on silent, the notification bell of my phone distracted me, I put my phone on silent and started again. After finishing my first Pomodoro I went to the kitchen to drink water, checked the messages, and started again. I completed 50% of my Online course after 4 Pomodoro .
I took a long break of 30 minutes, took a shower, ate my breakfast, and came back to my laptop and notes. Again starting work was difficult, it took me half an hour to focus on my work but when I started things went inflow. I completed my remaining task within just 2 hours with 4 Pomodoro repetitions.
For me, this was a wonderful experience, I found Pomodoro absolutely helpful and I have decided to use this great technique for every task of mine
